Personal Life Coaching and Success Coaching Background
I have been a personal life coach, success
coach and business coach since the early
1980's.
Early in my career, I realized insight
alone did not lead to results. So I added follow-up
personal life coaching with participants to help them apply
the skills and principles I taught in workshops. Doing so
had a spectacular effect on clients' results. And on me!
I took on my first personal success coaching
client in 1986, when I helped Sharon Wood become the
first North American woman to summit
Mount Everest. When she returned, I coached Sharon
through the process of reinventing herself as an inspiring
and sought-after motivational speaker.
I coached individuals, couples, entrepreneurs,
and executives through Robert Fritz's Technologies for
Creating® program for 9 years.
I now coach individuals and professionals from
across Canada and the US, and as far away as Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, South
Africa, Brazil, China, Taiwan, and
Australia.
Although
most of my clients are ordinary folks like you and I, many
are independent professionals—coaches, lawyers,
veterinarians, writers, artists, craftspeople, small and
home-based business people, Internet entrepreneurs, and
others—who want to integrate life and work into a simple
and successful whole.
I also
coach coaches. I developed a Personal Life Coach
Training Program for Peer Resources in Victoria—Canada’s
premier coaching and mentoring group—and trained and
coached coaches from across Canada and the US.

Executive and Professional Challenge Programs
My basic degrees are in Sociology/Psychology and Education. I did graduate work in the Sociology of Education and Environmental Design. I taught at the University of Calgary and Simon Fraser University.I helped establish the Banff School of the Environment and was a Faculty member in the Environmental Decision-Making for Managers program.
I was Senior Trainer for the Institute of Earth Education, and contributed briefing notes for Earth Education: A New Beginning by Steve Van Matre.
I was a Consulting Associate of the Action Studies Institute, a think-tank developing purpose driven skills for business, education and communities.
I was an Advanced Instructor for Technologies for Creating, Inc. and Innovation Associates. I contributed briefing notes to Peter Senge's The Fifth Discipline Handbook.
I was the first Canadian to be certified to administer the Adversity Response Profile® by Paul Stoltz, author of Adversity Quotient.
Resilience, Empowerment and Prevention Programs
I designed vision driven prevention-based programs for the Calgary Board of Education, the YMCA, the John Howard Society, Outward Bound, and the Alberta Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission. An ex-high schoolteacher, I assisted in the design and development of Pooh House School, the Alternative High School, and the Inglewood-Ramsey Pre-school in Calgary.
I believe the fundamental premise of successful prevention is the ability to "show them something better."
I also believe, as well as teaching people to fish (metaphorically speaking), it is critical to teach them the generic creating and life design skills they'll need to create and sustain a vision driven life when fish stocks dry up or die.
